Until We Get Closer—What Lies Beyond

installation 2025

In 2024, eight years have passed since I came to Japan. Leaving my home country behind, I have traveled through various lands, continually observing the ever-changing landscapes and the frames captured within them. Along the way, I began to sense that beneath these shifting perspectives, there might be something unwavering, quietly alive at the core.Starting from the question, “What kind of place is the home in your dreams?” I began a journey to visit the dream homes of others. Through the words exchanged and the experiences born in this process, the landscapes I see have transformed subtly, yet unmistakably. Changing perspectives, passing time. The discoveries that emerge from these interactions reveal that the images born from encounters with others are often deeply rooted in oneʼs own past experiences and memories. However, by embracing the words of others, new images are created and continue to expand. In the final part of this audiovisual work, I listen to peopleʼs stories about their “dream homes” in the setting of a workshop. The words shared there drift like the wind, weaving a singular landscape. These words blend, resonate, sometimes intersect, and at other times take on entirely different forms, reflecting small yet profound truths that lie within each of us.And so, people sought to share these ever-changing landscapes with one another.
