Transpreant coffin

2020,installation

The city is constantly changing. With AI systems more prevalent than ever before, and more and more of us conversing through electronic devices, we feel as if we are imagining the temperature of people behind a screen, while waiting for the day when the glass of that screen will break. We feel as if we are waiting for the day when the glass of the screen will break. We are surely getting used to the changes, including the forgotten faces under the masks. The economy of the city was also affected, the billboards in the train stations remained white, flights to foreign countries were stopped, and going back to my parents' house became a dream. When the WiFi and computer at home broke down, it was as if the communication between myself and others was interrupted. The image of the surroundings that life had given him, the everyday, was being disassembled and reassembled. The senses are further layered by concretizing the images. Putting the jump from time to space, through the visual language under the lens of the camera, the international student's place, what remains of his life as an international student, looking for the impressions of others and his own traces, he dedicates his own small hope to the present through his work.

Transpreant coffin", a series of works created in 2020, is an installation of mainly photographs, performance, video, and digital contets. The Corona was the inspiration for this work. I thought about my position in society in fragments and wanted to talk about the current situation as I felt it through my work. The image of a transparent coffi is a metaphor for my anxiety about the present and the future. The coffi is associated with the loss of life.

In 2020, we felt like we were in a coffi because of the urban blockade caused by the corona and the social atmosphere. At the same time, we were looking at ourselves objectively from the outside. We felt powerless about the future and the present, and it became difficul to see the future.

Many people are unsure of their future when they graduate from college, but the Corona experience has also brought about a number of significant changes, especially for international students like myself. It is precisely at such a time that I was asking myself questions through the production of the film, communicating now toward what I feel. The number of people infected with coronas, which changes every day, was displayed along with photos as part of the information. In the exhibit, QR codes were placed on the ground. Each QR code leads to a word selected from his own diary. They expressed the loneliness of being at home all day, forgetting today's date in the midst of a declared state of emergency.
